AXS TV’s The Big Interview with Dan Rather features the legendary newsman sitting down with some of the most celebrated figures from across the entertainment spectrum. Season 6 of the series continues this Tuesday, March 20, at 9 p.m. Eastern / 6 p.m. Pacific, with Robby Krieger and John Densmore, the surviving members of The Doors.

Best Classic Bands has an exclusive clip from the episode below.

In the interview, Krieger says: “Jim was just a normal guy. But he had these words that they showed me and I knew that those were pretty unusual.”

Densmore relates the first time he met Morrison, at an arranged jam session: “Lurking in the corner is this guy… bare feet, t-shirt and cords. Really shy. He hands me some lyrics…”

The 50th anniversary celebration of The Doors continues with the recent release of The Doors: Live at the Isle of Wight 1970, on a variety of formats, via Eagle Rock Entertainment. The last known unseen performance of the classic rock band in existence, it has been completely recut and remixed from the original film footage. Fully approved by the Doors, this previously unreleased concert was restored via the latest 21st century technology, color correcting and visually upgrading the original footage.
