Report: Eagles’ Walsh, Schmit to Join Henley Birthday Show; Nicks, Tooby Best Classic Bands Staff
Not too long ago all was quiet on the Eagles’ front. Following the death of founding member Glenn Frey early last year, the Eagles announced that they would not continue without him. Last summer and fall, fellow co-founder Don Henley resumed touring as a solo artist, took a break and then toured some more, in the U.S. and Australia/New Zealand.
Now, things are getting even busier. First, those rumors about a pair of mega-concerts—The Classic East and The Classic West—are now set for Los Angeles and New York in July, co-headlined by Fleetwood Mac and, yes, the Eagles, and also featuring the Doobie Brothers, Steely Dan, Journey and Earth, Wind and Fire.
Henley isn’t sitting still. He’s got more U.S. tour dates for June (see complete itinerary below) and, to top it all off, a big birthday bash is set for July 22, when he will turn 70. On that date, the Texas-born drummer/singer/songwriter will return to his home state for a celebratory gig at Dallas’ American Airlines Center.
We’re now hearing that fellow Eagles Joe Walsh and Timothy B. Schmit, as well as Stevie Nicks, will join him at the birthday performance.
