This year marks the 60th anniversary of the release of Elvis Presley’s first two albums for RCA Records – the eponymous Elvis Presley, which came out March 23, 1956, and Elvis, which came out the following October. To celebrate six wonderful decades of the King, RCA/Legacy Recordings is releasing a massive 60-CD limited edition Elvis Presley box set anthology on March 18th, including restorations of all of the albums he released during his lifelong association with the label, from 1956 through his death in 1977. Elvis Presley – The Album Collection presents the King’s records exactly as they were first released and designed to be heard, complete with original packaging.

The 60-disc bundle begins, of course, with the ultimate classic rocker’s first two albums, both of which reached number one on the U.S. charts, rocketing the singer to celebrity status. The journey continues with his Sun Sessions recordings, the famed 1968 comeback special recording, gospel and Christmas gems like How Great Thou Art, his 1969 American Sound session albums, live concert recordings from the 1970s, compilation albums like the Elvis’ Golden Records series featuring assorted non-album hits, three brand new discs of rarities – which the label failed to identify in its announcement – and more.

Also included are 17 of the King’s film soundtracks that he churned out with far-too-great regularity and which contain their share of filler, to be kind.

RCA has mined its library numerous times with various Elvis Presley box set as well as one- and two-disc compilations. It owns the recordings outright.

This collector’s box also includes a 300-page hardcover book of commentary penned by Elvis scholar John Jackson, discographies, recording session details and more.

Pre-orders are available now via Amazon (see below).
