Perhaps to give fans a taste of what they might expect at his forthcoming Springsteen on Broadway marathon residency, Bruce Springsteen has released a 1996 concert from Belfast, Ireland, on download and CD. The show, recorded March 19 of that year, features only Springsteen on vocal, guitars and harmonica, and Kevin Buell on electronic keyboard.

It can be purchased directly from Springsteen’s dedicated site for selling concert recordings directly to fans.

On Springsteen’s Facebook page, the recording is described as “Bruce’s first-ever solo tour supporting The Ghost Of Tom Joad.” The release, it continues, “brings that work to life through story and song. The set features nine cuts from the album, three non-album originals, including the brilliant ‘Brothers Under the Bridge’ and the first official release of ‘The Little Things,’ plus striking acoustic arrangements of ‘Born In The U.S.A.,’ ‘Bobby Jean,’ ‘Darkness on the Edge of Town’ and ‘Streets of Philadelphia.’”

The live.brucespringsteen.net site has, for some time, been a valued resource for collectors of Springsteen concert recordings not being released officially through his record label, Columbia. There, fans can download complete concerts from throughout Springsteen’s career. Another recent release, for example, is titled Action in the Streets ’77 and features the “first-ever soundboard recordings to surface from the ’77 tour.”
