blondie-lauper-2017We saw a lot of big classic rock names combine for 2016 tours and here comes word of another strong pairing for 2017. The Deborah Harry-led Blondie have announced a series of dates with Cyndi Lauper. So far, it’s just for Australia and limited to seven dates but the hope is that it gets expanded well beyond that.

Says Harry: “You can’t miss this show. The bitches are coming back to make it happen in Australia just like they do it everywhere. All the songs and music you want to hear from us and much much more…. We’re looking to have the best tour in OZ ever!”

There are five outdoor dates, billed as “A Day on the Green,” and two indoor shows.

Tickets go on sale Tuesday, November 8 at 10 am here.

Blondie has one of the most unusual pop chart histories. Their first nine singles failed to chart. Their next, 1979’s “Heart of Glass,” went to #1. They would enjoy another three chart-toppers in the ’80s: “Call Me,” “The Tide is High” and “Rapture.”

Harry and Lauper both performed at the David Bowie tribute concert held at NYC’s Carnegie Hall on March 31.
